About the Event
Imposing order in a chaotic abstract work can often be difficult. In exploring the design of an abstract work, remembering the rule of thirds is helpful. Within that rule, several techniques can be used to define a horizon line, including asemic writing, a small grid, painterly lines, and more. This technique helps to convey a sense of atmosphere and place. The horizon line creates depth with color and tonality. With the addition of a shape or a line we can move our horizon line into a classic cruciform. Students will receive a lot of individual attention and the painting that they leave with will be truly their own expression.
