Abstract Flower Expressions

With bright colors and an imagination full of Spring dreams, students in this class will paint flowers abstractly. We’ll start with a page full of loosely painted color and crayon marks. Students will learn about working with analogous colors to brighten and shade their florals. Composition will be discussed, helping to move the viewers eye through the painting. We’ll then gently shape flowers from our “blobs of colors” and paint out the background around our flower shapes with gesso. This is a loose form of negative painting. Final paintings are fun and bright They can be primitive or sophisticated and will work with any décor!
