Calligraphic Collage
This class is for students who love collage and calligraphy but can't quite figure out where to start, or once started, where to stop.
In this class students will learn how to give their collage work that extra “ZING” that makes them exciting works of art. The collages created in this workshop will utilize calligraphic marks, letters, quotes, etc. Students will create some calligraphic elements and combine them with papers, prints and found objects to create a pleasing composition. Experimental watercolor techniques are a big part of this class. Students will pour watercolors on to the page, creating backgrounds for calligraphy as well as collage elements. Acrylic mediums are important to collage artists for many techniques. In this class we will spend some time exploring many different mediums and their possibilities. The principles of design as they apply to collage will be an integral part of this class. This class is a good combination of fun techniques with a serious study of design. The hand outs for this will be presented in a wire bound book. This will give students a permanent and attractive reference source for use after class.
